Limestone Floor Restoration in Richmond, London
Project Overview
This project involved the restoration and finishing of internal limestone flooring across four levels of a residential property in Richmond, London. The total floor area covered approximately 550m², making this one of the most extensive limestone restoration projects completed by our team.
Our specialists were brought in during the final phase of the installation when the original tiling contractor was unable to achieve the high-quality finish expected by the client. The client required a precise and professional solution to improve the appearance of the limestone floors while ensuring the surface was correctly finished and protected.
With careful attention to detail, our team completed a full joint correction, diamond cutting, and sealing process to restore consistency and bring the limestone flooring to the desired standard.
Project Details
Location: Richmond, London
Service: Limestone Floor Restoration and Finishing
Material: Natural Limestone
Surface Area: Approximately 550m²
Property Type: Residential Property
Floors: Four Levels
The project included extensive work across multiple areas of the property, including main living spaces, bathrooms, fireplaces, and kitchen worktops.

The Challenge
When our team arrived on site, the limestone flooring had already been installed but did not meet the client's expectations in terms of finish and joint quality. Several issues were present across the floors, including uneven joints and inconsistent finishing between tiles.
Due to the scale of the property and the amount of limestone flooring already installed, the restoration required a highly precise approach to ensure a consistent finish across all four levels of the home.
Additional challenges included restoring limestone surfaces in bathrooms, fireplaces, and addressing specific issues with the kitchen worktop area.
The Restoration Proces
Joint Correction and Levelling
Our first step was to carefully rake out and correct the existing joints across the limestone flooring. This process allowed us to properly level the joints and ensure a consistent and clean appearance throughout the floor.
Diamond Cutting
Once the joints were corrected, we carried out a diamond cutting process across three levels of flooring. Diamond cutting allowed us to refine the limestone surface and create a uniform finish across the entire area.
This process removed minor surface imperfections while improving the overall smoothness of the stone.
Bathroom and Fireplace Stone Finishing
In addition to the main flooring areas, our team carried out diamond cutting in three bathrooms as well as around two fireplace features within the property. These areas required careful handling due to the detailed stonework and confined spaces.
Stone Replacement and Installation
Where stone elements were missing or incomplete, we sourced and installed new limestone pieces to ensure continuity throughout the property. These new sections were integrated into the existing flooring and finished to match the surrounding stone.
Protective Sealing
After completing the diamond cutting process, we applied a professional stone sealer across the limestone flooring. This protective treatment helps reduce moisture penetration and staining while preserving the natural appearance of the stone.

The corrected joints and refined surface created a clean and uniform finish across all four levels of the property. Bathrooms, fireplaces, and kitchen stonework were also successfully restored, ensuring a cohesive look throughout the home.
